Brendan P. Matthews joined PJ SOLOMON in 2018 as a Director. As part of the firm’s Houston-based Energy Group, Mr. Matthews focuses on coordinating the firm’s business development objectives and strategic marketing initiatives for the upstream and midstream sectors.
Mr. Matthews’ nearly 15-year career has been completely dedicated to energy investment banking, with a primary focus on mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. He has participated in the execution of more than sixty MA&D sell-side and buy-side transactions totaling in excess of $50 billion. His extensive transactional experience stretches across several conventional and unconventional regions throughout the U.S., with a recent successful track record in the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford and Mid-Continent. In addition, Mr. Matthews has been recognized by Oil & Gas Investor magazine as a Thirty Under 40 honoree, which acknowledges the top young professionals in the E&P, Service, A&D, Midstream and Finance sectors who possess the intelligence, creativity, community involvement and values that will propel the industry forward.
Prior to joining PJ SOLOMON, Mr. Matthews was a Senior Vice President at Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. where he led the business development, marketing and finance team in the acquisition and divestitures energy group and supplemented global coverage efforts as part of the firm’s greater energy platform.
Mr. Matthews’ prior experience also includes energy investment banking roles with RBC Capital Markets – RBC Richardson Barr and Jefferies & Company – Randall & Dewey.
Mr. Matthews graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and double minor in Financial Economics and Managerial Studies – Corporate Strategy.
